Workshop: Falmouth Printing Together
Princess Pavilion - Saturday 21st September, 10.30am to 4.30pm
FREE
Love Falmouth? Like to learn a new creative skill and be involved in an exciting community project?
Come and join John and the team at John Howard Printmaking Studios at FORM Falmouth festival on Saturday 21st September for a free printmaking workshop.
We will show you how to use drypoint printmaking to create part of a large collaborative print of Falmouth artist John Dyer’s painting “Gateway to Cornwall” for public display.
John Howard says: “When thinking about an image that spoke of Falmouth and Cornwall it could only have been Falmouth artist, John Dyer. When I approached John (Dyer) he was really excited to lend his work to this project and suggested we use Gateway to Cornwall as it was commissioned by Falmouth Art Gallery and speaks to the strong art connections we share this side of the Tamar”.
No booking required as the workshop will run continuously throughout the day until the work is finished, though spaces may be limited at busy times.

Gallery hours: Tues to Sat 10am to 5pm
The Poly Members’ Summer Exhibition is a long-running, annual art show that welcomes applications for 2D and 3D works in all media and artistic disciplines. This exhibition is a celebration of the artistic talent from our community – displayed to showcase the best works from both established and new artists. It takes place in the beautiful Main Gallery upstairs at The Poly, and all members of The Poly are welcome to submit artwork.
In The Poly archive there are records of the Members' Exhibition running nearly every year from 1960 onwards, and even some mentions of exhibitions taking place pre-war. And of course, the work of the then Royal Cornwall Society in the 19th century in bringing art classes to the town was a precursor to the eventual establishment of the highly respected Falmouth School of Art, now Falmouth University.

In this mixed media exhibition Sharon will share her fascination with the ‘tiny treasures’ gathered on her daily beach walks and the shapes, textures and patterns observed along the water’s edge.

Show No. 4 at Morgans
Exhibition: Show No 4
Morgans - from Tuesday 27th August until Saturday 21st September
Gallery hours: Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm
Show No.4 at Morgans showcases a summery collection of paintings with a rich focus on colour, composition and shape. A large body of paintings by resident Morgans painter, Martha Holmes, will sit across the gallery, exploring both the landscape beyond her studio as well as the still life interiors documented within the studio space.
Returning to Morgans is portrait painter Ella Squirrell whose works on canvas have a fluidity to them with layers of colour and mark making, suggesting still figurative moments with a sense of daily life. Alongside sits a series of etchings and prints by Lottie Hampson who also draws on her surroundings within her home space, with nods to still life set-ups.
New to Morgans is Lucy Giles who brings a burst of colour to the collection - her abstract paintings have a deep sense of belonging, with each painting drawing on past experiences and life around her. Paired with the paintings is a new collection of furniture by local craftsman Will Nock, featuring pieces from both his oak ‘Mawnan’ range and scorched ‘Arvor’ series.
Resident ceramist to Morgans, Julia Florence, will also share a new collection of vessels inspired by recent travels to Greece.

Tickets: £7.50/£6/£5.50 (plus a £1 Poly Fund payment added to each ticket sold)
Dir. Anton Corbijn | 2023 | 101 mins
Originating in the vibrant atmosphere of 1960s Cambridge, Hipgnosis - a renewed album art design studio - ascended to rock royalty during the flourishing 1970s. Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell conjured visual spectacles that defied imagination, propelling fringe music genres into the mainstream. Unlike record companies at the time, they had the creative freedom to shape the LP covers for legendary acts like Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin, and Paul McCartney.
"SQUARING THE CIRCLE" features exclusive interviews with influential artists including Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, Peter Gabriel, Graham Gouldman of 10cc, Noel Gallagher, and many other notable figures. Through their firsthand accounts, the documentary offers an intimate exploration of the maddest, funniest, and most creative era in popular music.
