Exhibition: Show No 4
Morgans - from Tuesday 27th August until Saturday 21st September
Gallery hours: Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm
Show No.4 at Morgans showcases a summery collection of paintings with a rich focus on colour, composition and shape. A large body of paintings by resident Morgans painter, Martha Holmes, will sit across the gallery, exploring both the landscape beyond her studio as well as the still life interiors documented within the studio space.
Returning to Morgans is portrait painter Ella Squirrell whose works on canvas have a fluidity to them with layers of colour and mark making, suggesting still figurative moments with a sense of daily life. Alongside sits a series of etchings and prints by Lottie Hampson who also draws on her surroundings within her home space, with nods to still life set-ups.
New to Morgans is Lucy Giles who brings a burst of colour to the collection - her abstract paintings have a deep sense of belonging, with each painting drawing on past experiences and life around her. Paired with the paintings is a new collection of furniture by local craftsman Will Nock, featuring pieces from both his oak ‘Mawnan’ range and scorched ‘Arvor’ series.
Resident ceramist to Morgans, Julia Florence, will also share a new collection of vessels inspired by recent travels to Greece.
